Being fabulously frugal means I hardly ever pay more than $25 for a bottle of wine except for the occasional splurge when I really want that expensive bottle of bubbly or French pinot noir. So I’m always more than a little excited to be invited to review the 25 Wines under $25 event that the Vancouver International Wine Festival offers every year.

James NevisonThe Province’s “Wine Guy” and author of the best-selling Had a Glass series of wine guides, was the host of this event and for the mere price of $59, 25 wines are on display to sample, all of which are priced under $25.

Just beware that as a girlie girl who loves sweet white wines and red wines that have silky soft tannins with none of the complexity of oak or aromas of tobacco or leather, my recommendations may not be yours so feel free to try them on your own.  The following are my 2017 recommendations.

(if viewing on your phone, turn sideways to see the table)

BC 50th Parallel Estate Pinot Gris 2015 ($19) White peach, quince and ripe dried fig on the palate, very creamy and hint of spices.

BC Baillie-Grohman Estate Winery Blanc de Nois Rose 2015 ($17.39) Unoaked 100% Pinot Noir wine with nose of raspberry and cranberry  and pomegranate, cherry, guava and tropical fruit on the palate. Has a long finish.

Hmm it seems like your website ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to everything. Do you have any suggestions for inexperienced blog writers? I’d really appreciate it.
