Affordable New Year Eve Events in
Vancouver for December 31, 2018

When I was younger, I thought that having a credit card was a license to go on shopping marathons.  Now that I’m house rich, but money poor, I never go to expensive New Year Eve events.  So here’s my list of affordable New Year Eve events in Vancouver under $60.  There’s a few exceptions on my list of affordable New Year Eve events, but that’s only because they give you good value.

 

Bells and Whistles (3296 Fraser St, Vancouver) – 9pm-

Beginning at 9 p.m., Bells and Whistles will kick off the countdown to the new year with a celebration featuring DJ ELdjLOCO presiding over a dance floor, a full menu of gourmet burgers, sandwiches and ballpark-friendly fare and its signature selection of local and import beer, as well as complimentary party favours and bubbles provided for party goers at midnight.  Tickets for Bells and Whistles’ ‘The Ball Drop’ New Year’s Eve event are available for $20 per person, while quantities last, in advance at the restaurant  or online. Tickets will also be available at the door on Monday, December 31 for $25 per person

The Buck & Ear Bar and Grill (12111 3rd Ave, Richmond) – 5:00 PM –2:30 AM

$45 per person, includes a 4 course meal, and is paired with carefully selected wines or beers plus late night including party favours (while supplies last) and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. Calabash 2019 NYE Underground Party (428 Carrall St, Vancouver) – 10 pm – 2 am

We have 2 of Vancouver’s favourite DJ’s: DJ Tank Gyal & Rexx spinning the finest Reggae, Dancehall and Hip Hop. Tickets Include: Rum Punch on entry, canapes during the night. Cavu at Hilton Airport (5911 Minoru Blvd, Richmond)- 8:30 pm – 1am

Chicha Restaurant (136 E Broadway, Vancouver) – 8 pm – 2 am

Day of the Dead –  Bring in 2019 with live mariachi, all you can eat Taco Bar, and $250 cash prize for best “Day of the Dead” dressed! Tickets are $35.00 and include entrance, live mariachi, all you can eat taco bar, and shot of tequila to ring in 2019 at midnight! Click here to purchase tickets.

Dockside Restaurant (1253 Johnston St, Vancouver): 9 pm – 1 am

Dance the night away to 90s music. Tickets for the 90s Dance Party only are available for $25 each (plus tax and service charges).  There is also a three-course New Year’s Eve menu costs $75 per person, exclusive of taxes and gratuity, and includes complimentary admission to the party in the lounge (Dinner reservations can be made by calling 604-685-7070.   Tickets for the dance party can be bought HERE

Frankie’s Italian Kitchen & Bar (765 Beatty St, Vancouver) 5 – 8:30pm

We welcome you to celebrate an early New Year’s Eve from 5pm-830pm. We are offering three course, choice dinner for $60. This includes the cover charge for the live jazz from the Cory Weeds Quartet. After the jazz, all are welcome for the post game fun after Canada v Russia from World Juniors.

Grouse Mountain (6400 Nancy Greene Way, North Vancouver) – 5:00 PM

From 5:00 pm onward, celebrate the kick-off of 2019 with entertainment and fun for all ages. Glide on our 8,000-square foot mountaintop Skate Pond, take a sled down our Sliding Zone and be awed by the magical outdoor Light Walk around Blue Grouse Lake. Enjoy incredible performances throughout the night as well as a special 9:00 pm countdown for our littlest revelers that will be sure to light up the sky with a boom! Mamie Taylor’s (251 E Georgia Street) – 8pm until late ( mamietaylors.ca)

I’ve included this event in this list of Affordable New Year Eve events only because the price is inclusive of food and all the drinks you want.  Go whole hog in 2019 as Mamie’s hosts its legendary New Year’s Eve bash with an all-you-can-eat family-style pig roast and open bar. Start off with a family-style spread of Deviled Eggs, Mamie’s famous Ham Grenades (AKA: homemade ham hock ‘tater tots), and Buttermilk Chicken Wings in spicy honey. For the main course, Chef Jonas Hamre will carve and serve Whole Roast Suckling Pig, alongside House BBQ Sauce, Slow-cooked Pit Beans, Braised Collards and Kale, Green Salad and his signature, light-as-air Buttermilk Biscuits. Finally, finish off with a sweet biscuit-topped Peach Cobbler served with ice cream. New Indian Buffet (901 W Broadway) – 8pm – 2am

$29 per ticket includes: belly dancers, live Dj rockstar top hits, dance floor, Massive dinner buffet 70 items, stacked cash bar, midnight countdown, party favours. Monday, 31 December 2018 from 8 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.   Join us for The Park Pub’s New Year’s Eve party! With musical guest STRUT – an all-star party band featuring DL Car, Ray Roper, Layla Vaugeois + Curtis Michael Leippi. Tickets –> Early bird $10 | Door $15. Rocky Mountain Flatbread – 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Rocky Mountain Flatbread is excited to celebrate New Year’s Eve in style with a pizza party for families! This event is not only a very affordable New Year Eve event, but family friendly. Festivities include pizza making for the kids, balloon twisting, face painting, dinner and an early New Year’s Eve count down.  New Year’s Eve parties will be held at the Rocky Mountain Flatbread Kitsilano and Rocky Mountain Flatbread Main Street restaurants in Vancouver.  Includes:

•    3-course New Year’s Eve Dinner: select your favourite house made soup or salad followed by an artisan pizza and warm double chocolate brownie for dessert.
•    3-course New Year’s Eve Children’s Dinner: pizza making or pasta, drink and warm double chocolate brownie for dessert.
•    Gluten free and plant based menu items are available. Rocky Mountain Flatbread is nut free.
•    Tickets: $20 per child (age 1 and up) and $25 per adult. Tax and gratuity not included.

Tap & Barrel – Shipyards (8 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver)

December 31 – 9pm-1am, $25 prepaid ticket.  Shipyards is throwing its first annual New Year’s Eve Party in Lower Lonsdale! There will be a DJ, photobooth, and party favours. Tickets include: A welcome drink, light canapés and bubbles at midnight. Click here to purchase tickets

VANCOUVER THEATRESPORTS YEAR IN REVIEW (1502 Duranleau St, Vancouver) – 11:15 p.m. show

Ring in 2019 with a smile on your face. Regular 2018 Year In Review performances run from Wednesday, December 26 through Sunday, December 30, with a special set of New Year’s Eve performances on Monday, December 31. Book your tickets for the 11:15 p.m. show on December 31 and enjoy party favours and a complimentary glass of bubbly as we welcome all the hilarity 2019 is sure to offer. Prices range from $39.25 ticket only, $46 includes one glass of bubbly.
