Cascade Room Hosts Howling Moon Cider Dinner, May 4

Wine takes a back seat as Cascade Room kitchen presents a five-course dinner
paired with craft ciders from Oliver, BC’s Howling Moon

BC Cider Week 2017 takes place April 28 – May 7, and on Thursday, May 4, Main Street’s Cascade Room hosts a dinner in honour of BC’s fantastic fruit-based libations. Its five-course dinner, featuring dishes from Cascade Room Executive Chef Tim Evans, will be expertly paired with craft ciders from Oliver, BC’s Howling Moon Craft Cider.

Howling Moon’s Kate Durisek, Proprietor and Nik Durisek, Proprietor and Chief Cider Maker, will be on-hand to introduce each pairing and share the story of the boutique South Okanagan-based cidery.

In terms of the menu, Chef Evans has let his imagination run wild, inspired by the bounty of the region. From a pickled strawberry salad with lemon ricotta to a hearty beef tenderloin with stilton butter, roasted shimeji mushrooms and cider jus, his menu for this special event is guaranteed to bring out the unique flavour of each cider.

“The fruitiness of cider is so much fun to play with,” says Chef Evans. “The bright, peppery flavours of spring – strawberries and rocket, for example — work beautifully with the dry zip of BC ciders. But these ciders also provide a wonderful spark to richer comfort foods, like the beef tenderloin we’ve chosen, which is swimming in umami.”

Throughout BC Cider Week, The Cascade Room will offer four different ciders on-tap from select BC cideries, including: Orchard Hill Estate Cidery (Oliver); Howling Moon Craft Cider (Oliver); Wards Hard Cider (Kelowna); BC Tree Fruits (Kelowna); and Tod Creek Craft Cider (Victoria).

Tickets for the Howling Moon Cider Dinner are priced at $75 per person (includes tax, gratuity and cider pairings). Purchase tickets online at Eventbrite
