The Year of the Ram celebration is fast approaching, so we share a few ideas that would make appropriate gifting and entertaining items: two very special wine labels, and two seasonal confections!

Wine For Your Table

The second release of Summerland’s Haywire Lunar New Year Red and White wines is here! After selling out in days last year, the winery now has a larger release, with two wines specially-created to pair with Asian flavours and packaged with the Chinese symbol of the sheep on colors of red and gold to celebrate the year of the Ram and reflect happiness, good luck and prosperity. Not only do they look great, they taste delicious too!

A Collectable Wine

For the ultimate luxurious gifting opportunity we present One Faith Vineyards this is a special limited release wine from the south Okanagan’s Black Sage Bench.

The aim is to create a First Growth, and to do this the vintners are only able to produce a miniscule amount of wine. This 2012 release of a delicate and sophisticated Bordeaux blend produced just 144 cases. Released only in three-bottle-boxed sets, with a limit of one per customer.

$495 per box – inquires on availability and get on the list at onefaithvineyards.com

The Sweet Accompaniment

Almost too pretty to eat (if we didn’t know they are made of chocolate) are the creations from Wild Sweets by Dominique and Cindy Duby, internationally renowned pastry chefs and chocolatiers.

2015 ‘Year of the Ram’ cocoArt sculpture ($17.99) You have to see it to believe how special this edible art is. A sculpture of a Ram’s head made entirely of chocolate is adorned with edible gold ‘paint’  and accompanied by red and gold-flecked chocolates filled with hazelnut praline cream and crispy cookie flakes.

2015 Lunar New year Crème Brulee Cake ($25.50)

Seriously, this cake is the ultimate: layers of muscovado streusel cookie, crispy crêpes hazelnut praliné, Single Origin Dominican Republic La Red Hispaniola dark chocolate Crème Brûlée cream, red berry fruit Crème Brûlée cream, DR La Red dark chocolate almond Sacher sponge cake and red berry fruit gelée, elegantly finished with an airbrush ‘2015 Ram’ design, gold sparkle and hand-painted chocolate bark and decor.

This stunner of a cake makes an enchanting table decoration, and when eaten each layer of this cake provides a different texture: a delicately soft jelly coating, unctuous cream, rich almond chocolate sponge cake and crispy/crunchy base.

Made for a limited time for the Lunar New Year, the sculpture and cake are only available to purchase online at dcduby.com for pick up at the Atelier in Richmond at Unit 2245-12191 Hammersmith Way.
