Opening of Terroir Kitchen postponed

Chef Faizal Kassam has spent the past decade honing his skills in some of Vancouver’s award-winning restaurants and is now stepping out on his own with the opening of Terroir Kitchen (2232 Marine Drive, West Vancouver) on Saturday, May 28th, 2016.
Chef Faizal Kassam’s passion for cooking was inspired by the flavours of his family kitchen. But it wasn’t until he got his first taste of French cuisine working as a young dishwasher at La Régalade that he decided to become a professional chef. He went on to train at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts and graduated at just 20 years old. Now, with over a decade of experience earning his stripes in some of Vancouver’s most notable kitchens like Bacchus at the Wedgewood, Hawksworth and a seven-year tenure at Cibo Trattoria and Uva Wine & Cocktail Bar, where he became the Executive Chef.
Terroir Kitchen is the realization of Chef Faizal’s lifelong vision and was born out of a desire to combine the culinary influences that have inspired him throughout his career. Serving Southern European tapas-style plates of French, Spanish, Italian and North African origin, Terroir invites guests to explore the vibrant tastes of these culinary regions. Dishes are true to the tradition of each cuisine, incorporate locally sourced seasonal ingredients and are designed to be shared.
The menu offers something for every palate, from fresh seared Albacore tuna on a warm fennel salad to crispy pork belly served with a smoked cauliflower puree and grilled skirt steak in a spicy pepperoncino salsa. Dessert items include a decadent chocolate tart with pistachio brittle and rosewater cream. All dishes are priced below $30 to ensure everyone can enjoy an exceptional dining experience. The wine list includes both local and European vintages.
Terroir Kitchen is also a kind of homecoming for Chef Faizal. Born and raised on the North Shore, his new restaurant occupies the former La Régalade, where a young Chef Faizal was first inspired to become a professional chef. He is now coming back home to share his passion with the community.
Located just a stone’s throw from the ocean in beautiful West Vancouver, Terroir Kitchen offers premier dining without the trek downtown. The restaurant is an intimate space with room for 44 guests inside and another 14 on the private patio. This outdoor perch enjoy views of the ocean and is the perfect place to soak up the sun, sip on some wine and savour a meal. Inside all materials, except the Spanish tiles, are locally important and the walls are adorned with artwork by Emily Carr alumni Natalia Wein.
An ideal venue for private events, buy-outs will be available for large parties and Terroir Kitchen will work closely with organizers to create a fitting menu for each function. Reservations are also available.
