Free Opera in the Piazza

Free Opera in the Piazza on June 13, 2018
Tribute to Arena di Verona Festival

In the centre of Verona, opera performances are given at the ancient Roman amphitheatre, the Verona Arena, which is capable of holding 30,000 spectators. Spectators sit on the stone seats and bring small candles (the “mocoleto”) which are lit as darkness falls and the performances begin. The Free Opera in the Piazza concert will feature repertoire from this summer’s opera line-up at the famed Arena di Verona Festival.

Operas presented in their 2018 Summer Season include:

    • Turandot (Puccini),
    • Nabucco (Verdi),
    • Aida (Verdi),
    • Barber of Seville (Rossini), and
    • Carmen (Bizet).
