On Thursday, October 6, 2011, LEGACY LIQUOR STORE went PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the World’s 1st Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Team, ABREAST IN A BOAT (http://abreastinaboat.com) who are a group of women from Vancouver and surrounding areas who live with breast cancer and participate in dragon boat racing to raise the public’s awareness of breast cancer.

There were fabulous silent auction items to bid on; fabulous food to nosh on:  bread, cheese, deli meats and fruit and last but not least wine and spirits to make you feel warm and fuzzy all over – well, at least I did from head to toe.

Being a lightweight, I only need one sip to feel that rosy afterglow.  So I hate to drink wine at home by myself because once I open that bottle, I’m committed to drinking that same bottle every night for four nights. To that end, I attended this event on the quest to find spirits I could enjoy on occasion without having to worry about finishing the bottle before it went bad.

As you will see, I still couldn’t resist the urge to try a few wines.  The following is just a few of my favorites.  You can view the photos from the event here:  http://ow.ly/6VPzg

Spice me up – yeah, this was a dangerous drink, marked at 70 proof, its sure to kick you right where you need it.  This is a drink to be sipped.  When you sniff it, the lovely odors of  vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg are predominant but they’re not telling us what the other secret spices are! Not being a big big fan of whiskey, SPICEBOX WHISKEY has converted me.  Paired with a pumpkin tart, it was a great way to end the night.  Now can somebody tell me which way is up?

Who knows how to get the caramilk into the caramilk bar?  Duh, I don’t know but maybe if I have six shots of this CARAMILK liquor, I might know or probably, won’t even care.  This not only is excellent on ice but I’m thinking this will be my next inspirational cheesecake.  Anyone want a piece?

I actually didn’t try CHOCOVINE at the Legacy event but only because every time I get a bottle of this chocolate crack wine, I can drink it in 2-3 days.   When I first saw it at a 7-11 store on the Las Vegas Strip, I thought it was a joke.  Come on, who actually buys wine at 7-11?  Well apparently I do and when I tasted this lethal combination of Cabernet wine and fine Dutch chocolate, I knew I found my next crack addiction.

I’ve seen this sexy wine all around town and knowing that sometimes what looks good on the outside isn’t necessarily that good on the inside, I’ve been hesitate to buy it purely for its sex appeal.  But the RISQUE ROSE STRUT I tried is simply a divine decadent blend of Gamay, Riesling, Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc.  It’s tasty and goes down way too easy which makes its a great wine when the girls get together to let it all hang out.

PINK ELEPHANT is a sparkling wine from Elephant Orchard Wines that has the right amount of bubbles with nice crisp tart Granny Smith apple taste, an interesting alternative to ice wine perhaps?  So delicious with a caramel finish and brut champagne taste.  Also so easy to drink that you’ll want to buy more than just one bottle.  http://www.elephantislandwine.com/

Hot pink and electrifying?  Yes, this CRUISER ELECTRIC VODKA is pink lemonade that is rated PG as it’s a drink that you shouldn’t be serving to the underaged because it packs a wild but sweet punch.  Mix a pitcher of this up on a sunny day with a plate of nachos to get the party started!

If you’ve been avoiding Gewurztraminer because it usually rates 12 on a sweet scale of 1 to 10, you’ll love this one by QUAIL’S GATE as it is dryer than most but possesses just enough sweetness to make you smile as this one you can no doubt drink more of without going into a diabetic coma.
