Joe Fortes Blue Plates in support
of wildfire disaster relief

From Monday, July 24 until Friday, July 28, Joe Fortes Seafood and Chop house will donate partial proceeds to the Red Cross to help support the BC wildfire relief effort.

Named after Vancouver’s first lifeguard, who every day dedicated himself to his community, Joe Fortes is committed to upholding this legacy of community service. Joe Fortes regularly hosts charitable initiatives in support of local organizations such as the Vancouver Firefighters Charitable Society, the Pacific Salmon Foundation and a Loving Spoonful. Now, as the province faces threat from devastating wildfires that have forced thousands of people from their homes, Joe Fortes is eager to do its part to support the community in this time of need.

Partial proceeds from the Blue Plates menu will be donated to the Red Cross. The Red Cross is working with the BC government to provide relief for those affected. These efforts include supplying evacuation centres with items such as cots and blankets, activating disaster relief volunteers, offering families and individuals financial assistance for food, shelter and water, and providing evacuee registration services. Registration enables the Red Cross to identify the whereabouts of evacuated individuals, ensure they are safe and facilitate reunification with their families if they have been separated.

The Blue Plates menu will feature a different dish each day of the week and includes homestyle seafood pot pie on Monday, panko crusted haddock on Wednesday and West Coast fish cakes on Friday. Individual dishes are priced at only $9.95, however guests have the option to expand their meal to two or three courses for an additional cost. The two course meal option includes a starter and the three course meal options adds dessert. Guests have the choice of either Joe Fortes’ classic New England style clam chowder or mixed greens to start and vanilla creme brûlée or vanilla gelato for dessert.

The Blue Plates menu will be available during the weekday lunch service from July 24 – 28 while quantities last.
