TO WHITE SPOT RESTAURANTS IN BC
AND ALBERTA ON AUGUST 14
Annual Fundraiser Lets Adults be a Kid Again by Purchasing a Pirate Pak
and Helping to Send Deserving Kids, Young Adults to White Spot Week at Zajac Ranch for Children
It’s the most wonderful time of the Y’arrr!’ at White Spotas the beloved BC restaurant chain gives adults a chance to be a kid again while supporting a worthy cause on its annual Pirate Pak Day taking place at all 64 White Spot restaurants throughout BC and Alberta on Wednesday, August 14.
For one day only, $2 from each Pirate Pak sold will help send deserving children and young adults to White Spot Week at Zajac Ranch for Children,, a fully inclusive summer camp where everything is accessible for children with life-threatening illnesses and chronic disabilities.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Pirate Pak Day has raised $780,776 since its inception and has sent more than 400 children to the annual event, which takes place every summer at the private, 41-acre ranch in Mission, BC. During the week, campers have an opportunity to explore the outdoors while developing greater social and environmental awareness, increased self-confidence, and positive attitudes towards physical activity.
“Pirate Pak Day is a fundraiser that both guests and staff look forward to every year,” says White Spot President Warren Erhart. “It not only lets adults be a kid again and relive those trips to White Spot to enjoy a Pirate Pak, it also allows us to send very deserving children to camp so they can make memories of their own as well.”
On August 14, Pirate Paks are available for both dine-in and take-out, with adults able to customize their Pirate Pak with the choice of:
- Legendary Burger
- BC Chicken Burger
- Bacon Cheddar Burger
- Veggie Burger
- Dippin’ Chicken
- The White Spot Club
- The Spot’s Fish & Chips
- Nat’s Original Beef Dip
Normally only available to kids aged 10 and under, each Pirate Pak is served in the famous buccaneers’ boat and includes fresh-cut ‘endless’ Kennebec fries, creamy coleslaw, choice of soft drink, premium rich ice cream, and the treasured ‘gold’ coin that has served as the booty since founder Nat Bailey created the iconic meal more than 50 years ago.
“Our long-standing partnership with White Spot provides a direct benefit for kids with medical needs,” says Mel Zajac, founder of Zajac Ranch for Children. “Each year, we are grateful for its Pirate Pak Day fundraiser, which helps provide life-changing camp experiences for children in BC and across Canada. We encourage everyone to partake in a Pirate Pak on August 14 so that as many children as possible can experience summer camp.”
In 2018, almost a million Pirate Paks were ordered at White Spot restaurants, including 53,719 alone on Pirate Pak Day. Since making its debut on the White Spot menu in 1968, more than 24 million Pirate Paks have been sold. Today, Pirate Pak boats are 100% recyclable and compostable and offer hundreds of menu combinations, including vegetarian options.
