Restaurant and Grocery Store Promotions
offering during COVID-19 Pandemic

The following are a few restaurant promotions during this uneasy period of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic I’ve come across in Vancouver, B.C.. You’ll have to check the Facebook page or Instagram page of your favorite restaurant to see if they’ve closed temporarily or are offerring pick up and deliver options.  I’ll be updating this page regularly as I come across them.

Costco Canada

Costco: be prepared to get there at 7am to line up as I went the first day.  I asked if I could stand in front as I have a leg injury and can’t stand for an hour but everywhere kept saying to ask the manager who was no where to be found.  Needless to say I wasn’t going to stand for an hour (which I can’t), waiting to talk to the manager.  So if you are frail and can’t stand, forget about Costco and go shop at your neighbourhood grocery store.

Granville Island – 9-10am is shopping for seniors only and they will stay open until 4pm.

IGA Stores of BC – Each Wednesday and Friday morning we will be holding an early morning shopping hour for SENIORS & HIGH RISK INDIVIDUALS that are most vulnerable in our community. We will provide a clean and low stress environment to ensure we take care of our community in the best way possible. *Only at IGA Stores of BC. Please  visit www.igastoresbc.com for more information and for store locations

Loblaws – Real Canadian Superstore, Shoppers. Supermarkets will open from 7am-8pm, with the first hour dedicated to seniors and those with disabilities. We will also reduce hours at Shoppers Drug Mart based on the needs of each community – please check online for the revised opening hours for your store.

Over the next few days we will begin limiting the number of customers allowed in our busiest stores at the same time. This will make it much easier for you and our colleagues to practice social distancing. When the aisles are jam-packed, giving people the appropriate amount of space is just too difficult. For those stores, the specific capacity will be determined based on their size. And, wherever possible, we will only open every other checkout lane, also to encourage social distancing. In short, more space for everyone.

Rexall – Rexall is launching a dedicated shopping hour in our stores across Canada to help support the needs of customers fifty-five years of age or older and individuals with disabilities. Beginning on March 18th until September 3rd, Rexall is encouraging the community to set aside the first hour of operation daily to allow those in need to exclusively shop in our Rexall stores. to find hours of operation for your local Rexall store.

Each Tuesday, Rexall offers a 20%* discount on regular priced merchandise for Canadians fifty-five years of age or older through Advantage 55+. In addition, we will be offering the Advantage 55+ discount until 10:00 am daily. Click here to learn more about promotions and the Advantage 55+ daily discount, which will be available until September 3rd, 2020.

Save On Foods: will change its hours starting March 19 to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It will also be holding a special shopping hour for seniors and people with disabilities from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. each day.  Limiting the hours will give the teams at Save-On-Foods additional time to sanitize, restock the shelves, and give its workers a chance to recharge, a release from the company said Wednesday.

Shoppers Drug Mart – Starting this week, Shoppers Drug Mart is dedicating the first opening hour of shopping at our stores to our customers who need assistance or consideration, including seniors and people living with disabilities. We encourage you to check with your local store to confirm operating hours. Shoppers Drug Mart will also offer the 20% Seniors Day (65+) discount on regular priced items for the first hour each day every day. This is in addition to Seniors Days each Thursday.

Urban Fare – New store hours 8am to 8pm. 7am to 8am reserved for seniors and those most vulnerable. We have implemented limits on high-demand items, to help ensure supply to everyone in our communities. Please stay safe and remember to practice social distancing.

Walmart – We are temporarily dedicating 7am-8am Monday-Friday exclusively for our seniors (65+), people with disabilities and those with vulnerable health conditions.

Whole Foods Canada: Customers who are 60 and older are invited to shop beginning one hour before the store opens to the general public under the store’s new adjusted hours. Additionally, our stores will close two hours early to give our Team Members more time to restock shelves, sanitize and rest in preparation for the next day.  Important Update to Store Hours.
