Vancouver TheatreSports™ (VTS) is pleased to present all things Irish at at, the improv comedy company’s St. Paddy’s Day celebration, on Sunday, March 17 at 7:30pm at The Improv Centre on Granville Island. Tickets for Shamrocks and Shenanigans are $15.75 and are available online at . Patrons can look forward to laughing until their faces hurt at this wacky Celtic version of TheatreSports™.
What is Celtic TheatreSports you might ask? Think of a TheatreSports™ scene with dialogue made up of random Irish expressions, or a scene in which someone ‘acts the maggot’ or turns out to be one of ‘the little people.’ As in all VTS shows, the inspirations come from audience suggestions so you never know what the talented improvisers will create on the spot. What we do know is that it will be hilarious and leave you drunk with giddiness.
In addition to the thick improv air of Irish accents, Shamrocks and Shenanigans will feature roving lucky charm leprechauns bringing pots of golden merriment to all they encounter, and VTS’ ‘Celtic Colleen’ will improvise custom limericks for guests.
As The Improv Centre is fully licensed, patrons may ‘fancy a few scoops’ at the. Bar Manager Paul Belsito is getting into the ‘spirits of the evening’ with specials on Guinness, shots of Jameson’s Irish Whiskey, and the obligatory green beer on draft. VTS audience members can enjoy their beverages inside the theatre as they watch the show and have ‘a whale of a time’ of great laughs and convivial Celtic cheer – and that’s no blarney. Slainte!
