The Gorilla Gallery featuring Lush Gorilla Perfume IV

The interactive Gorilla Gallery contains sweet notes from Head Perfumer Simon Constantine’s life, with influences from Hal Samples, a filmmaker, of the inspirations behind Lush Gorilla Perfume IV. The Gorilla Gallery takes you on a thoughtful journey, invoking strong powerful images of homelessness, refugee camps to nostalgic memories of Simon’s grandmother, paired with a potpurri of wonderful scents of sandalwood, cardamon, violets, damascus roses and more, which you will smell throughout the entire gallery as the displays contain perfume infused objects. So don’t bring any friends that have perfume allergies as this is a most fragrant exhibition and is unlike any other exhibition you have ever experienced.  In fact ladies you won’t have to leave your boyfriends at home as there’s more than enough to fascinate anyone with a social conscience.

This is a free event in which participants can take a guided tour (which I recommend) through the numerous displays to discover the inspiration behind the Gorilla Volume IV perfumes. Or you can stroll through and enjoy the interactiveness of the gallery such as donning blue wigs and listening to disco while taking a selfie photo at the mesmerizing Self Esteem Machine which was my favorite as #DonnaSummerWasMyIntern.

I536 Seymour Street
SEPTEMBER 26-27: 11am – 7pm
SEPTEMBER 29-30: 11am-8pm

There’s more to see and do in this perfumed infused gallery such as watching a film about Simon’s experience in Syrian refugee camps on the Road from Damascus in which Syrian families who although had nothing, gave everything with their their hearts and homes and its their generosity of spirit that inspired the perfume Cardamon Coffee. This was my favorite scent as it’s it conveys comfort and a pleasant aroma of spices and caffeine – almost like saying “Hello world – it’s going to be a wonderful day!”

Or see how an abandoned tanker (pictured above) is transformed into a home for L.A. street resident, Tachowa Covington. Guests will also have the opportunity to watch ‘Metamorphosis’ which is the first film on a series of documentaries “samples of Society” about homelessness.  It’s a fascinating film about Tachowa which makes you think twice about the resourcefulness of people living in the street.

But last but not least, if you’ve been a fan of the Gorilla Perfumes, you’ll not only be able to sniff each one, but you can also buy exclusive perfumes and products, such as Tank Battle and Blackcurrant Angel for the first time. Other perfumes available for sale will be: Secret Garden, Sweet Grandma, Road From Damascus, Iamesh and Self Esteem Machine and Amelie Mae FUN.  There are scented samples which you can take home should you wish to have more time to apply each scent on yourself.

Gorilla Gallery Perfume Guide

At the Gorilla Gallery, there’s plenty of opportunity to smell each and every fragrance.  The pop up shop will be open next door for purchases.  Note that some perfumes are only available for sale at the Gorilla Gallery.  I recommend Amalie Mae for anyone looking for a light sweet floral fragrance for daywear as it’s not overpowering.  I received a bottle of this in my media swag bag and fell head over heels on on its light bright floral notes.
