Vancouver Writers Fest and Fictionals
Comedy Co. team-up for Words In Motion
Comedy and literature collide at Granville Island Brewing on Thursday, October 18, 2018 when The Fictionals Comedy Co. and Vancouver Writers Fest team-up for Words In Motion. Improv X Literature features some of Vancouver’s funniest comedians and finest poets teaming up for a night of laughs. The performers will be inspired by audience suggestions, classic literature, and modern bookshelf hits.
According to Daniel Chai, co-creator of The Fictionals and host of Words In Motion, the event will be a fun showcase of the different creative communities in Vancouver.
“We have hilarious comedians, powerful poets and amazing writers coming together for Words In Motion,” said Chai. “This is our first year collaborating with Vancouver Writers Fest, and they’ve been very supportive of our Improv X Literature idea. My goal is for the audience to be equally entertained as they are inspired.”
Special guest poets for Words In Motion includes Duncan Shields (Vancouver Nerd Slam Champion, IWPS Haiku Champion), Angelica Poversky (Vancouver’s Top 24 Under 24, TD Scholar, Richmond’s 30 under 30), RC Weslowski (Canadian Individual Poetry Slam Champion, Mashed Poetics), and Jillian Christmas (Artistic Director of Verses Festival of Words, Vancouver Poetry Slam Champion). Joining The Fictionals for the comedy portion of the show will be writer Ian Boothby (Sparks!, Exorsisters, New Yorker, Mad Magazine).
Doors to Words In Motion open at Granville Island Brewing at 7:30 pm, with the show starting at 8 pm. Advanced tickets are $7 and available at https://www.eventbrite.com/
“I think the crowd can expect fun, silliness and play to be happening at Words In Motion,” said RC Weslowski, “The thing I enjoy most about spoken word is making a connection with the audience and sharing the experience with them. It’s an interactive experience, so they are part of the performance.”
